“A businesswoman who started her own company in her back bedroom with just £100 has been nominated for a national award”, writes Noah Drameh.

“Resourceful mum Amanda Potter, from Coulsdon, set up Zircon Management Consultancy in 2000 with no clients, but has grown the company to become one of the market leaders in business psychology.

The 39-year-old has helped 140 self -employed consultants find work and has moved the business from her bedroom into a state-of-the-art converted garden office.

Potter is a finalist in the Blackberry Remote Employer Award 2010, that honours enterprises which have proved home and remote working has been beneficial.

The university graduate and married mother has three degrees and admitted she had to sacrifice her weekend and evening social life when starting out to get her business going.
