Zircon – Shortlisted Finalist – Blackberry Remote Employer of the Year 2010

Zircon have been shortlisted as a finalist for the BlackBerry Remote Employer of the Year Award 2010.

The BlackBerry Remote Employer Award is for employers and companies that promote flexible working solutions with home working options or remote working.

We have been shortlisted because all of our 140 colleagues work remotely. The Head Office is a Garden Office in Surrey, and all of the Zircon Directors, Business Managers and Associates have “at home offices” and travel to client locations to conduct client projects. The choice to run Zircon as a remote business was three-fold: Cost, Environment and Lifestyle.

Cost – We have found that our overheads are significantly lower as a result of our colleagues working mainly from home. We are therefore able to be very competitive with our pricing, whilst still paying our colleagues a healthy proportion of the billable day rates.

Environment – Zircon is a Green Organisation and we publish our Green Values and Ethos on our website. Working from home significantly helps to cut down our travel and therefore Co2 emissions.

Lifestyle – Over 60% of our colleagues work part time and have flexible hours to fit in with their family and preferred lifestyle. The Zircon model enables people to work flexibly from home, whilst still being part of a larger team and community.

The model is unique because Zircon has over 50 clients based both in the UK and around the globe and we are able to provide enhanced consulting support from a remote business.

The awards ceremony is the 1st September so please wish us luck.
